LMT is Making Suppressors Now?! [GunCon 2023]

TFBTV and James Reeves are at Brownells covering GunCon 2023. In this episode, James speaks with his good friend, Joe Hajny of LMT, about LMT’s new suppressor line. Well known as a premium supplier of military and Law Enforcement M4s, AR-15s, AR-10s, and similar carbines, it only makes sense that LMT gets into the suppressor game, making their own line of reasonably priced suppressors designed to package with their carbines and rifles.

It’s always funny when you see brass launching towards the firing line from a rifle that’s demonstrating another new “low back-pressure” suppressor.

@HemingwaysBeard To be fair, brass from factory US Mil unsuppressed rifles often ends up forward of the line.

I didn’t see the video, so I apologize if you mean it went straight to the 1 o’clock.

LMT might have its predatory patent pumping up its prices and convincing those who can't afford it that it's a "grail" piece, but it’s crazy how unaware the general public is of how bad LMT quality has gotten in the last few years. Within the LMT community the awful QC has become so well-known we compare all our blemishes and issues whenever we get a product in. I’ve never seen such egregious flashing on receivers. I’ve never seen T-marks engraved wrong before except on LMT uppers, not even on UTG parts. Defective, canted barrels that cost $600. LMT staff requesting redditors to remove posts detailing QC issues like defective bolt releases and safety selectors. Just go to the Lewis Machine & Tool subreddit and you’ll quickly see LMT's poor QC is the most commonly discussed subject besides generic photos/questions, a quick “LMT defects” Google search will turn up everything you need to see and you’ll find stuff from within the last year even. I say this as an LMT fanboy that owns a whole bunch of their overpriced rifles: LMT might be one of the worst and least consumer-friendly gun companies in operation today, and almost nothing would convince me to buy a derivative product like a copycat suppressor from them. They’ve got no sus patent advantage here, what’s the point? To get a suppressor where the logo is engraved crooked and then it blows up your $4k patented rifle?

@Berryamendmentandcream I’m glad to see more people commenting on LMT’s ridiculously poor QC. It feels like a lot of people that blindly recommend LMT without any disclaimer don’t have any recent experience with their rifles. I understand every company makes mistakes from now and then, it happens. However, the type of QC issues LMTs had recently (stuff that anyone can see from a mile away) have completely stopped me from recommending their products.
