POTD: Falkland Islands Defence Force – SA80

Once again our Photo Of The Day takes us to The Falklands, where members of the Falkland Islands Defence Force (FIDF) have been improving their marksmanship skills with expert coaching from members of Support Company, Coldstream Guards. Above you can see their SA80 Individual Weapon.

The Falkland Islands Defence Force is the Volunteer Military Unit first established in 1892. The Force is full funded by the Falkland Islands Government and works closely with British Forces to provide defence and security to the Falkland Islands.

The Force has recently invested in further improvement in Rookery Bay Range facilities and these were put to good use with some excellent shooting in a range of tactical scenarios.

Want to know more about the Falkland Islands which is home to just over 3 000 people? Check the Wikipedia article. Have you ever been there? Looks like a pretty flat place.

For more information about The Falklands War of 1982, check out our “ Imperial War Museum London” article or visit the museum.

The end result.

Not too many mentions of them in the conflict. Seems to be the place for using fal's.
