TFB Review: Beretta APX Compact
A few months ago, I decided to pick up something different from what I currently shoot. I snagged a Beretta APX Compact at my local gun shop. When I first picked it up and put the gun in my hand, I immediately noticed how aggressive the grip checkering was on the handgun which isn’t a bad thing for me. I think this is a good alternative to stippling and with three adjustable backstraps, the gun is able to fit a lot of different hand types. The grip is right in between a Glock 19 and a Glock 26. The APX Compact is just big enough to fit all my fingers onto the grip which is a plus for being controllable. The compact version holds 13 rounds in a flush magazine and is a fairly compact gun.
JUST ANNOUNCED: Beretta APX Compact And APX Centurion
Beretta is announcing two new additions to the APX line of pistols. The APX Compact is a small, ‘concealed carry friendly’ size and the APX Centurion is a mid sized gun with a 15+1 or 13+1 capacity depending on the caliber. Both the APC Compact and the APX Centurion are available in 9mm and .40 S&W. MSRP for each is $575 USD with the compact available for purchase now, while the Centurion should be available in about a month.
New Beretta APX Pistol Frames With No Finger Grooves
Beretta has recently added to their website a number of new accessories and parts for the APX pistol. Among the new products, there is a frame lacking the finger grooves, new sights and sight adjustment tool, competition recoil and striker springs, a light and a holster. Let’s take a look at arguably the most interesting one of the mentioned products – the frame without finger grooves.

Beretta Releases Photos of MHS-Model APX Handgun
Soon after SHOT 2015, Beretta announced a new striker fired, polymer framed handgun for civilian, LE, and most importantly military sales. A chassis-based handgun with interchangeable grips, the APX – as it was dubbed – was clearly designed with the US Army’s Modular Handgun System pistol competition in mind. Seeking to become the “M17”, as the winner of the competition will be designated, Beretta has released photos of the APX in a new tan color scheme as the MHS variant of the pistol, through the Facebook page of Retex MAG, a French gun magazine:
Army to Adopt XM17 MHS by 2018
The US Army released its second draft of the request for proposal (RFP) for its Modular Handgun System earlier this week. The draft gives the designation for whichever handgun is selected as “XM17”. From the draft RFP:
