At SHOT 2024, Wheeler introduced the following new products: XL F.A.T. Wrench with Complete Crowfoot Set, 30-piece Hex/Torx screwdriver bench set and new and improved AR Armorer’s Kits. Let’s take a closer look.

The 30-piece hex/torx set is designed for user convenience and modularity. Recognized for its tool assortments, the company offers this new set, which includes 10 SAE hex, 10 Metric Hex, and 10 Torx bits, appealing to users who prefer comprehensive collections.

The design of the set features modular bases that can interchange or stack, adding to its versatility. At the booth, a rep mentioned a nice design detail: “The holes for the hex or torx bits are angled so when you slide them in, they will settle upright.” In addition to the full 30-piece set, individual sets of 10 will also be available for those looking to tailor their collection.

Hex set specs:

  • Rubber-textured handles for a firm grip.
  • Black phosphate coatings applied to each piece to prevent rust.
  • The set is crafted for portability and maneuverability, reflecting the needs of users who work in various settings.

Expanding beyond individual tools, Wheeler has also revisited the practicality of AR building components. The brand’s new Wheeler XL F.A.T. Wrench with Complete Crowfoot Set particularly caters to the nuanced needs of heavy-duty torque applications in a workshop setting. This all-inclusive kit includes the wrench itself, along with five double-sided crowfoot wrenches, suitable for a wide range of tasks.

Wheeler XL F.A.T. Wrench with Complete Crowfoot Set Specs:

  • A torque range from 10 to 150 pounds, accommodating a variety of requirements.
  • Construction involves professional-grade hardened steel, emphasizing durability.
  • Notably, the wrench is complemented by AR-specific tools like delta ring and castle nut wrenches that are double-sided and double-ended for both AR-15 and AR-10 platforms.

The brand is also set to offer an organized approach to typical AR Armorer’s Kits. Known for delivering comprehensive equipment for maintenance and assembly, Wheeler is now gearing these kits towards a more systematic experience. Soon, customers can expect kits featuring new items such as the torque wrench and crowfoot set, all housed in stackable and portable cases.

AR Armorer’s Kit Specs:

  • Availability in various configurations to match different price points.
  • Fundamental tools like a hammer, punches, and a bench block remain constant components in every kit.
  • The hard case is designed with partitioned spaces that securely hold each tool in place, streamlining storage and accessibility.

As Wheeler rolls out these new offerings, they reiterate their commitment to enhancing the functionality and convenience of tools essential to firearm maintenance and construction.

It would be cool if the torque wrench included a calibration paper.

I had my dad's Snap-On wrench tested, it was 2 Ft-Lbs. off of spec. Not bad for a early 2000s torque wrench that's been in all kinds of environments.
