POTD: Pulsar Thermion DUO with Shield RMSx Red Dot
Welcome to another Photo Of The Day! At The Firearm Blog, we love to discover new gear and technologies and sometimes combine them together for even better functionality. Today we have the brand new Pulsar Thermion DUO DXP50 thermal scope with a Shield RMSx reflex sight.
Pulsar Thermion DUO DXP50 is a high-end thermal riflescope combined with a 4K daytime camera. You can use either channel, switch between them or use Picture-in-Picture. It’s pretty awesome and has to be seen to be understood best.
All this is mounted in a Spuhr QD mount, on top of a Ruger Precision Rifle in .308 Win. The Ruger has been upgraded with a TriggerTech two-stage trigger, MDT grip and an ARCA handguard from Anarchy Outdoors. The suppressor is from Ase Utra (Finland) and performs really well. The tripod comes from Innorel, with a head from Really Right Stuff.
So what’s that blue thing? Well, that’s the red dot! As you may know, Shield offers a wide range of colors, and the blue seemed like a perfect fit for the Pulsar. They also have more “tactical” colors like FDE and Olive Green…
Below: The Shield RMSx works really well both on handguns, carbines (PCCs) as well as a secondary sight on a (long-range) riflescope or a thermal like here. Here you can see that it’s attached through Shield’s own 30 mm ring, independent of the Spuhr mount.
Nice things don’t come cheap, and below is a demo video of what it can look like through the ocular. The Pulsar DUO seems to be listed at around $6,500 in the USA.

Well that is a very interesting rifle.
What I don't get is why there's no thermal scopes with an integrated red dot. It seems like it would be a useful feature on all of them just to be able to quickly transition between magnified thermal at range and unmagnified red dot close up. And making it integrated would allow for a lower profile thanks to combined battery and controls.
