Hearing protection often goes through the same incremental improvement process that firearms gear and ammunition do.     I know this sounds super fud, but I actually prefer batteries. For me anyway it's easier to pack batteries in my range bag (or hit a gas station to buy them) and just throw new ones in rather than remember to charge something or wait for rechargeable gear to charge enough to be useful to me at a 3 gun match or wherever. YMMV.

      @Biff Optimistically, 80 hrs of operation with a 4hr auto shutoff would get a weekly shooter 5 months on a charge. More realistically, that would mean a quarterly pack n charge schedule for a weekly shooter before turning into regular muffs.

      In a military context, this would work very well for organizations that use cubbies in a ready room. Of course, those organizations use commo headsets.
