Silencer Saturday #348: Suppressing The Uzi

Welcome back to another edition of Silencer Saturday. This week we are looking at how to suppress the Uzi submachine gun. The Uzi is a legend, in part for its longevity. It entered service in 1954 and continues to soldier on around the globe. But with that age come some idiosyncrasies for suppressor use.

TFB Review: TYPE A M110 Restomod

Welcome back to another TFB review. In my last review, I took a look at the SIG Sauer MCX Spear LT and if you happened to miss that article, be sure to click the link here to check it out. There've been a number of large framed AR10s to hit the market. Knights Armament made the absolute iconic M110 but never really offered something similar to the civilian market. There are a number of companies that make models similar to the original M110 with modern upgrades. I decided to purchase a TYPE A M110 Restomod to see what it's all about. After a year of ownership, I decided it was the right time to give my thoughts on my experiences.

TFB Review: Timney Glock Alpha Trigger

The pursuit of speed is unrelenting. It has captured the hearts and minds of mankind worldwide. I imagine the day after the firearm was invented, someone tried to shoot it a tad bit faster. Throughout the years, there have been many upgrades and iterations to the primitive tool that we call the firearm. What may have started as the Hand Cannon in China in the 13th century has long evolved into a tool that's so distant from its roots, that it's almost unrecognizable.

POTD: Chilean Special Forces With Colt M5s

The first online photograph is said to have been published by Tim Berners-Lee in 1992. It’s uncertain how many were able to see the image at that time, but probably only a very limited number. TFB’s Photo Of The Day is hopefully a lot more popular. Here we do our best find interesting high-quality images with a focus on firearms of all sorts.

TFB Review: MKE MP5 Style Retractable Buttstock

In my opinion, the MP5 A3 has to be one of the most iconic and aesthetically pleasing firearm designs of all time. The A3 configuration is the configuration with the sliding stock. It was prolific in many action movies of the 80s and 90s, and many video games as well. Chances are you’ve seen the MP5 A3 configuration on the big screen. Unfortunately, Heckler & Koch stopped production of the MP5 A3 stock and transitioned to the new style A3F stock. This left individual buyers with a finite amount of true HK A3 stocks available for purchase. MKE of Turkey took it upon themselves to manufacture the classic A3 style sliding buttstock, to give consumers more options. I have one, and here’s my review.

Long Term Review of Staccato P Pistol

I have been a fan of the 2011 platform for a long time. I have been using them since 2017 and have owned and worked on over a dozen different 2011s. I was a huge fan of Staccato back when they were known as STI where I got my start with a Hex Tac special edition that was released at SHOT Show. Since then I have been running 2011 pistols for everything from concealed carry to competitions. With the rebranding to Staccato, many people were worried about a potential dip in quality but it seems the concerns were unfounded as Staccato has despite a somewhat rocky start managed to garnish a reputation on par or even surpassing its previous iteration. I bought my first Staccato P almost 2 years ago and have since purchased a multitude of others including a second P, an XC and a C2. Since then I have been running them as carry pieces while upgrading them along the way. I will be going over my thoughts on the pistols both stock and as a platform for upgrading.

TFB Review: Springfield Armory 1911 Operator AOS 5” .45 ACP

The 1911 is a handgun that needs no introduction. It has been around forever, served militaries the world over, and civilians deploy them emphatically as well. “TwO wOrLd WaRs!” I jest, but the model 1911 is an undeniably popular and relevant weapon system even today. The only failing some may cite is that a firearm that was invented over a hundred years ago lacks modern day accouterments (surprise, surprise). If you give me a flashlight and a red dot though, I’m a happy man, and that’s exactly what Springfield Armory is now offering with their new AOS (Agency Optic System) 1911s. Today, I will walk you through my experiences of shooting and playing with my favorite iteration from this new class of Springfields in the 1911 Operator AOS 5” .45 ACP handgun. Let’s dive in!

POTD: Ruger Precision Rifle With A-Tec Marksman Suppressor

Photo Of The Day: Looking for the ultimate noise suppression? That’s the position I was in earlier this year, and after looking around on the market, I ended up with the A-Tec Marksman in .30 caliber. This way I can use it both for my .308 Win rifles, like the Ruger Precision Rifle pictured behind the Concamo, and for my 6.5 Creedmoors. The Marksman is made in Norway, and I use A-Tec’s muzzle brake with Quick-Detach, so I can move it between rifles and still have a good compensator if I decide to shoot unsuppressed.

Concealed Carry Corner: Best Cover Garments

Welcome back to another edition of Concealed Carry Corner. Last week, we took a look at some of the best ways to practice when it comes to practicing for carrying a concealed firearm. If you happened to miss that article, be sure to click the link here to check it out. This week, I have been carrying every day during the constant rain storms the northeast has been getting. With the seasons changing and temperatures starting to drop, it's always an interesting change to start carrying with cover garments. Whether it's a light rain jacket or a heavier coat for the colder winter months, it's always important to see how different coats can affect your draw stroke and the overall accessibility of your firearm. It can be tricky to find the right jacket for your climate but there are certain outer jackets that do better than others with concealed firearms. Let's take a closer look at some of the best cover garments.
